Brian A. Barcella

WILMINGTON—Brian A. Barcella, 57, of Wilmington, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Jan. 30, 2021 at Franciscan Health in Dyer, IN.
Born Oct. 14, 1963 in Roseland, IL, he was the son of Bruno and Mildred (nee Vermeulen) Barcella. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and former police officer for the Glenwood Police Department. Brian was a proud veteran and always offered a helping hand to any veteran in need. He enjoyed volunteering for the Secret Food Pantry that was held at the Top Fuel Saloon in Braidwood. Brian had a knack for being able to turn anything into art, his most recent known craft was making homemade pens.
Surviving are four daughters: Chloe Barcella, of Manhattan; Shauna (Michael) Schmalz and Brooke Barcella, all of Homewood and Olivia (Mason) McGowan, of Twentynine Palms, CA; one sister, Barbara (Clarence) Sturwold, of New Lenox and her children, Andrea (John) Sturwold Turrisi, Nicholas (Kelly) Sturhold and Alyssa Sturwold; best friend and cousin, Bruce “Ty” (Colleen) Keller, of Braidwood and many other nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents. Visitation for Brian will be at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Home & Crematory, Braidwood, Friday, Feb. 5, 2021 from 5-8 p.m. Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation. Memorial services will also be at the funeral home on Monday, Feb. 8, 2021 at 11 a.m. All attendees are required to wear face coverings, follow social distancing guidelines, due to the capacity requirements please be brief with your condolences to allow other guests to pay their final respects.
Private inurnment will be at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
