Coal City High School senior Brady Ehman has been selected the school’s Business Student of the Year.

The award, presented annually by the school’s business department, recognizes a business student who displays the characteristics and self-motivation to have a successful future. Candidates must have at least six semesters of business courses and maintained a B average or higher.

Business instructor Harlan Kennell, when presenting the award, said Ehman has been enrolled in business education classes all four years, completed eight courses and achieved a perfect score in all.

Ehman, the son of Jason and Kelly Ehman, finishes high school third in his class with a 4.7 grade point average—the highest rank and gpa achieved by a Business Student of the Year in the last 10 years. He will attend Illinois State University to study computer science.

“He is a remarkable, intelligent young man who truly enjoys learning the skills needed in today’s business world. It is clear, Brady displays the characteristics and has the self motivation to have a successful future,” Kennell said.
