James Roy

MADISON, WI— James Nicholas Dale Roy, 34 of Madison, WI and formerly of Coal City, passed away on Memorial Day after a long battle with addiction.
James, known to most as Nick, was born and raised in Coal City, and relocated to Madison, in 2015 to live a life of sobriety. He had the ability to learn any trade he tackled. From house siding, to home remodels, to car repair, to tattoo artistry and photography. He excelled at anything he touched.
Nick evolved into a gentle giant with a big heart due to sobriety. He was most at peace walking in nature with his beloved dogs, Reaper and Bella that meant the world to him. Nick was a good man who was always the first to help out and would give his last dollar to whomever needed it. He had a wicked sense of humor, loved heavy metal music, and his friends. Nick will be sadly missed forever in our hearts, and never forgotten.
Survived by his mom, Diane Roy; sissy, Melanie Sanders; an uncle, Kenny (Mary Pat) Mack; four aunts: Sharon (Harry) Miller, Joan (Rick) Wren, Vanessa (Ron) Benson and Jennifer Roy; a grandpa James Roy, and many friends.
Nick was preceded in death by his grandparents, Kenneth and Irene Mack, and Willa Roy.
The family will receive friends for a visitation at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway in Coal City on Sunday, June 4, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of remembrance at 3:00 p.m. Cremation rites will then follow.
