James Stewart Jr.
WILMINGTON—James "Randy" Stewart Jr., 59 of Wilmington, and known by many as "Scoot," passed away Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024 at his home.
Born on April 28, 1965, in Joliet, he was a son of James Randall Sr. and Jacqueline (Walls) Stewart. Randy was raised and educated in Joliet, where he later embarked on a career as an operator with the railroad, dedicating 17 years to Parsec, Inc.
Randy was a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous, cherishing his sobriety for the past seven years. His passions in life included fishing, traveling, supporting the Chicago Cubs and spending quality time with family, particularly with his loved ones in Mississippi.
A loving husband, father and grandfather, Randy was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all those whom were fortunate enough to share in his life.
Survivors include his loving wife, Stephani, who has been by his side for the past 31 years; six children: Ashley Stewart (Justin), Amanda Stewart (Halfred), Tanya (Keith) Jenkins, Steven (Stephanie) Carter, Allison Stewart (Christopher) and James Stewart III; nine grandchildren: Armani, Carson, Madison, Carter, Kaylie, Shiloh, Maliyah, Dahzire and Thomas Jay with another expected; one brother, Mathew (Lisa) Stewart; two sisters, Lorraine Stewart and Cynthia Stewart; his aunt, Chris Cravens; uncle, Matthew (Karri) Welter; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill and Nancy Carter, and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as his dear friend, Larry Melville and his beloved sponsor, Art.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
The family will receive friends for a visitation at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 E. Kahler Rd. in Wilmington on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2024 from 4:30 p.m. until time of funeral service at 6:30 p.m. Pastor Jeff Urban from Christian Faith Center will officiate and cremation rites will be accorded at the conclusion of the services.
