Joseph Campbell

ARIZONA—Joseph Byron Campbell, 91, of Scottsdale, AZ passed away Oct. 23, 2017.
He was born May 31, 1926 in Coal City to Byron and Winnifred Campbell. Joe was a World War II veteran and proudly served in the United States Navy on the USS Gallatin as a fireman first class. After the war, he worked for Illinois Bell Telephone for 35 years retiring as a construction manager in the Chicago, IL corporate office. After retirement, Joe and his wife, Rosemary moved to Arizona where he enjoyed traveling, playing tennis, designing western-themed Christmas ornaments and exploring the desert back roads with friends and family in his jeep, Old Blue.
Joe is survived by his wife of 70 years, Rosemary (Shaunnessy) Campbell his daughter, Patricia (Campbell) Stalzer and her husband, Louis, of Scottsdale; his son, Kelly Campbell and his wife, Nancy of Romeoville, IL and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Dorothy Akers, of Las Cruces, NM where he enjoyed Mexican dinners at La Posta and Mary Lou Hampton Baker, of Coal City, IL where he enjoyed gathering popcorn at her nearby farm in Mazon, IL.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
