Judith Grygiel

Wilmington, IL— Judith Grygiel, a woman who was truly beautiful inside and
out, peacefully began her next journey on August 15, 2026, at the age of 83.
Born on November 1, 1942, in Joliet, IL, she was a deeply loving mother, a
remarkably gifted artist, and a bright light to everyone who knew her.

Judith approached life with an independent, hands-on spirit and a heart full
of imagination. She loved taking on home improvement and DIY projects,
finding pure joy in transforming spaces with her own two hands. Her
incredible artistic talent shone brightly through her paintings and sketches,
leaving a beautiful, lasting reflection of her soul.

Her greatest joy was her family, and she loved nothing more than bringing
everyone together. She was the heart of family gatherings, creating warmth
and laughter through holiday celebrations, as well as joyful outdoor family
picnics.

Throughout her life, Judith found her greatest happiness in the simple,
wonderful pleasures of the world. She loved the music she listened to, the
pages of good books, camping under the stars, and the thrill of catching a
big fish. More than anything, she filled her children's lives with
beautiful, unforgettable memories and a foundation of love that they will
hold dear in their hearts forever.

In keeping with her naturally generous heart and lifelong desire to help
others, Judith made the beautiful, selfless decision to donate her body to
medical science. Rather than a traditional funeral, Judith wished for her
life to be honored with smiles and happy memories. A joyful celebration of
her life will be scheduled at a later date, where family and friends can
gather to share stories and celebrate the wonderful woman she was.

She leaves behind a legacy of love in her children: Joseph Tafoya, Monica
Grant, Marcie Tafoya, and Megan Stevens; her cherished grandchildren; and her
dear brothers and sisters. She is reunited in peace with her parents, Leroy
and Wilma (Mallott) Purdy, and her brother, Leroy Purdy, who preceded her in
death.
