Peter Klemp

DWIGHT—Peter William Klemp passed away peacefully in his sleep at the William W. Fox Developmental Center in Dwight on July 6, 2020 where he was a long time resident. He was born Feb. 4, 1961, in Highland Park, IL, the special child of Joan Frable Klemp and John Joseph Klemp. Peter’s smile, sense of humor, and outgoing personality were the lights of Fox Center and the entire Dwight community.
At Fox Developmental Center, Peter touched many lives and was the light and life of his unit, 3C. He was vice president of the Resident Council, as well as the coordinator of the White Paper Project. He was well-loved by everyone that knew him, and his wit and charm will be truly missed.
Peter loved going to his workplace, Futures Unlimited, Inc. in Dwight, a vocational program where he developed skills in all areas of life through learning activities and made many friends. He worked tirelessly on arts and crafts, music, life skills, celebrating holidays, and playing pranks on staff. He held a leadership role in Aktion Club, providing community outreach to Dwight.
Peter loved walks to the park, picnics and outdoor activities, especially Harvest Days, and many outings in the community. He attended St. Patrick’s Church, Dwight, where a Mass of Remembrance will be held at a later date in August.
He is survived by his sister, Marie (Brian) McNamara; nephews, Leo (Jessica) McNamara, of Minneapolis, MN; Brendan McNamara, of St. Paul, MN and Ian McNamara, of Pequot Lakes, MN; great-nieces, Nora and Maeve and great-nephew, Amir; special cousins: David, Jeff and Todd Klemp and his “Partner in Crime” from 3C, David.
Peter was preceded in death by his parents, Joan and John.
The family is especially grateful for the exceptional care Peter received at Fox Center, provided by skilled and dedicated technicians and a team of professionals who helped Peter live life to the fullest despite his disability.
A Mass of Christian burial is pending at All Saints Catholic Church, Baxter, MN, with interment to follow at Camp Ripley Military Cemetery, Little Falls, MN. Peter Klemp’s name will be forever remembered with the beloved residents of Fox Center at their memorial in Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Dwight.
