RCMS tracksters bring home at state trophy

STATE TROPHY—The Reed-Custer 8th grade boys track team brought home the IESA class 3A second place state trophy on Saturday. Accepting the award are coaches (from left) Scott Dinelli, Jimmy Matsko, placers Kaiden Klein and Matthew Kuban, and coaches Jenny Coronelli and Rich Bell.

The Reed-Custer Middle School 8th grade boys track team finished 2nd in the state on Saturday, winning a team trophy while crowning a state champion.
Kaiden Klein had an impressive two-day total, placing first in the Boys 400m with winning time of 52.15, second in the 300m in 23.12, and fourth in the 100m with a 11.86 sprint.
The 8th grade Panther also placed in the pole vault at 3.19m which was good enough for fourth place.
Also competing for RCMS was Matthew Kuban who took third in the long jump with a 19-05.25 distance and 10th place in the 110m hurdles with a 16.45 time.
On the girls side, RCMS 7th grader Aubrey Bobzin ended up 9th in the 100m hurdles while sixth grader Payton Pivonka placed 6th in the 800m run with a 2:29.48 time and 19th in the 400m at 1:08.34.
The 7th grade 4x400 relay team which included Sophia Dixon, Avery Vanek, Mia Nacey, Bobzin and Pivonka ran a 4:30.46 for fourth place.
