Thomas J. Flamm

BRAIDWOOD—Thomas J. Flamm, 77, of Braidwood, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2019 at his home.
Born March 18, 1942 in Chicago, Thomas Joseph was a son of Francis M. and Dorothy C. (Kujawa) Flamm. He was raised in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, attended St. Augustine School, and went on to graduate from Chicago Vocational School with the class of 1961. Tom lived in Chicago until moving to Braidwood in 1979. He worked as a millwright in construction, and was a member of the Carpenters and Millwright Local 1693. Tom coached little league baseball, and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, as well as wine making, sausage making and smoking meat. Tom was also an accomplished craftsman, who loved woodworking.
Survivors include three children: Gregory Flamm, Kelly Gabouer and Darryl Flamm; one step-son, Robert Wigent; several grandchildren, six siblings: Judith (the late Joseph) Konkol, of Oak Lawn; Gerald (Barbara) Flamm, of Alsip; Lynne Lessman (the late Edward Murphy), of Braidwood; Joanne (Charles) Bafia, of Peoria, AZ; Mary Lowe, of Beecher and Christine (the late Bob) Engstrom, of Cedar Lake, IN; two aunts, Delores Stefanisin and Eleanore Flamm, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, and one step-son, David Wigent.
Per Tom’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 E. Kahler Rd. in Wilmington on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 from 4 p.m. until the time of Memorial Service and Celebration of Life at 7 p.m.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Tom’s memory to his family for their distribution.
