The members of the Wilmington Police Department have spent the first half of the year, with crimes against persons down, but crimes against property at the same level as the previous year.
Wilmington Police Chief Joe Mitchell presented the department’s semi-annual crime statistics for crimes against persons and crimes against properties to members of the Committee of the Whole on July 12, noting that crimes committed against people are on the decline. Mitchell said overall, crime is down 80% over the first six months of 2021.
