Coronavirus Update from Diamond Mayor Kernc

Dear Friends & Neighbors, The Coronavirus has made life difficult but please remember, we overcame the 2013 tornado and we will overcome Covid-19!  As a community we are strong, resilient and kind. I am so proud of our little community and of all of you. Rest assured, the Village will continue to provide essential services such as water and sewer. In order to keep your families and our employees safe, we will be making a few necessary changes. Effective Tuesday, March 17, 2020 Village Hall hours Monday – Friday, 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Public Works hours Monday – Sunday, 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. BOARDROOM ONLY WILL BE OPEN FOR VOTING TUESDAY, MARCH 17 THROUGH REAR DOOR. The Village Hall door and the Public Works gate will be kept locked and only village employees will be allowed inside. Public Works personnel will no longer be allowed to enter residences or have face-to-face contact with residents. We are staggering our employees to prevent community spread between them. If you need to contact us call the Village Hall at 815/634-8149, Public Works Director, Austin Vining, at 815/530-0453, or myself at 815/671-0617. We will do our very best to assist you in any way we can. If there is a Public Works emergency, notify Austin immediately. At that time, we will determine our course of action. Please follow all recommended Coronavirus guidelines so that your family remains healthy and well. During this difficult time please review your security plan with your family. Park all vehicles inside your garage if possible. If not, remove all personal property from the vehicles and lock the doors. Keep your outside lights on at night and keep all doors and windows closed and locked, including your overhead garage door.  Under no circumstance should you ever open your door to a stranger. And lastly, please remember to call your family, friends and neighbors to check on them. A kind word from you may be all it takes to change a bad day for them into a good one.
