COVID-19 closures, cancellations and updates

The weekly St. Vincent de Paul meals will continue, however they will be served as carryout dinners each Monday from Coal City’s New Hope Presbyterian Church. Anyone in need of a meal is welcome to participate. The church is located at 80 N. Garfield St.
Coal City United Methodist Church is suspending in-person worship services for the next two Sundays, however, a live stream service will be available on the church Facebook page at 9 a.m. on March 22 and 29. There will be no gatherings, Bible study, Sunday school, meals or meetings for the next two weeks and office hours will be reduced. Office hours will be from 8 a.m. to noon, however individuals should only come in if necessary or by appointment. Additional details are available on the church social media page.
Grundy Transit System (GTS) has suspended collecting fares on GTS buses. The action is being followed by many other transit systems across the state in an effort to minimize contact between people on buses. This means no fares will be collected in person from now through Wednesday, April 15. All rides will be free. Any changes in the policy will be announced on the GTS social media page.
Cabaret Night, the annual variety show at Coal City High School, has been canceled for 2020.
Hope Helps 10th Annual Basket Raffle and Auction scheduled for April 4 has been postponed. A new date will be announced as soon as possible. Donations continue to be accepted.
Morris Hospital inpatients are limited to one designated visitor over the age of 18 during their hospitalization. That’s not one visitor at a time; one designated person may visit each patient. In addition, patients coming to any Morris Hospital facility for any reason may be accompanied by one person. All public meetings, health education classes and support groups have been suspended until further notice.
Riverside Healthcare announced one visitor at a time will be allowed to visit patients in the hospital. These areas include the emergency department, all inpatient rooms including the intensive care unit, outpatient surgery and labor and delivery.
All IDNR owned properties are closed to the public to help stem the spread of COVID-19. All scheduled events on state property are effectively canceled, patrons are encouraged to call IDNR’s parks administrative line Monday through Friday at 217-782-6752 with questions or e-mail dnr.partksadmin@illinois.gov
Until further notice the Coal City Area Club office is closed to walk-in visitors. Club members are encouraged to utilize the drop box to make payments or provide insurance forms.
Godley Park District is closed for two weeks with a tentative return to normal operations on Tuesday, March 31.
Gymnastics X-Calibur is closed with a plan to re-open Monday, March 30.
The physical office of Jerry Hallahan State Farm in Diamond is closed, however “Like a Good Neighbor,” office personnel are still on the job working remotely and are available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for calls and e-mails. Paramount Theatre in Aurora was forced to close its performances of The Secret of My Success. Ticket holders to the remaining performance scheduled to run through March 29 will automatically receive an account credit to use toward any future performances at Paramount Theatre or RiverEdge Park. The theatre has also postponed upcoming performances in April of Killer Queen, Frank Caliendo, STOMP, Straight No Chaser, Jay Leno. Additionally, Classic Movie Mondays have been canceled through April.
