Goose Lake Prairie Cabin Fest is Saturday

The Cragg Cabin at Goose Lake Prairie State Natural Area will provide the setting for the 34th annual Cabin Festival.
Set for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, Cabin Fest is a day to celebrate pioneer living on the prairie in the 1800s.
Re-enactors in period dress will demonstrate and teach throughout the day. Activities and demonstrations will include old style beekeeping, blacksmithing, crochet, drop spindle angora spinning, flax spinner, quilting, knitter, and tanner.
There will also be a dulcimer player and the American Indian Traveling Museum will be at the park.
Wagon rides to and from the cabin will be available from the food tent located near the visitor’s center. Guests can also walk the trails to the cabin. The visitor’s center, gift shop and picnic areas will be open.
Tickets for the cabin quilt raffle will be available for purchase in the center and those interested in supporting the rebuild of the historic Cragg Cabin can make donations at that time.
Plenty of photo opportunities at this event so be sure to bring a camera.
Cabin Fest is a free family event sponsored by CPV Three Rivers Energy Center and hosted by the Goose Lake Prairie Partners, the volunteer arm of the prairie. Chairpersons for this years festival are Prairie Partners Bev Mansfield, Tom Kaluzny and Char McDade.
