GROWS community garden sets planting date

In 2018, the GROWS garden is looking to local area agencies as well as residents of the community to make their garden the best yet. This year there are 18 garden beds total.
All 18 of the garden boxes have been rented out to local community residents as well as partner agencies like senior citizen facilities such as Regency Care of Morris and Dwight Heritage Woods as well as We Care and the University of Illinois Extension, among others.
The goal for this community garden is for it to benefit residents, provide individuals with an opportunity to garden, be more active in the community, and eat healthier. The GROWS Community Garden will officially be planted Saturday, May 19.
To be placed on a waiting list for one of the garden boxes contact the Health Department.
Each garden box is eight feet long by four feet wide and is raised in accordance to ADA standards at a height of 20 inches off the ground. The boxes are made from pressure treated wood with bracing and a ledge around the top to sit on.
A Gardner's Application and Memorandum of Understanding can be found at  www.grundyhealth.com or call Kelly at 815-941-6818 for more information.
The planting date is Friday May 19, if interested in volunteering contact the health department.
