Grundy County unofficial general primary election results

The unofficial results of Tuesday’s general primary election were posted by the Grundy County Clerk and Recorders Office just after 9 p.m.
According to the clerk’s election page 6,890 ballots were cast and have been counted. The results will be official following the vote canvas.
In Grundy County, President Donald J. Trump collected 2,614 Republican votes. On the Democratic side, Joe Biden was the choice of Grundy voters receiving 56.72 percent of the vote, Bernie Sanders was second with 35.98 percent. Biden won the Illinois primary.
Incumbent Senator Dick Durbin, a Democrat, collected 3,601 votes in Grundy County. Mark C. Curran, Jr. was the choice of Grundy County Republicans. He collected 39.5 percent of the vote in a five way race for the party’s nomination.
Incumbent Congressman Adam Kinzinger will face Dani Brzozowski in November. Both were unopposed in the March 17 primary. Brzozowski collected 3,358 votes and Kinzinger ended the night with 2,535.
Incumbent 40th District Senator Patrick J. Joyce won the Democratic nomination. In Grundy County he led the four candidate field with 82.99 percent of the vote. He will face Republican Eric M. Wallace in the November General Election.
In the 75th State Representative District incumbent David A. Welter is unopposed going into the General Election.
In the 79th District, Charlene Eads was the choice of Grundy Democrats. She ended the night with 61.69 percent of the vote over R.S. Ellinton-Snipe. The winner of the race will face Republican Jackie Haas. The seat is being vacated by incumbent Lindsey Parkhurst.
Incumbent Grundy County State’s Attorney Jason Helland will face Jeff Brown in November. Helland recorded 2,382 votes and Brown ended the night with 3,477 votes.
Grundy Circuit Clerk Corri Trotter is unopposed to retain her seat, as is Grundy County Coroner John W. Callahan. Both are Republicans.
In Grundy County Board District 3, that includes Coal City, Diamond and Carbon Hill, Republicans Harold Vota and Caleb Counterman will face Democrats Jim Ryan and Ann Gill. Vota collected 671 Republican votes and Counterman 648. Gill received 996 Democratic votes and Ryan 916. Three will be elected in November.
Republicans Donald Hansen, David Valdivia and Ellen C. Hanson will face Democrats Michael A. Leone, Jr. and Cody Mulac for the three available seats in County Board District 1.
In County Board District 2, Republicans Joshua S. Harris and Debra Jo Kinsella will appear on the November ballot along with Democrat Michael Lutz.
Elected Democratic committeepersons were James R. Homa, Braceville 2; Richard Joyce, Felix 1; James K. Riley, Garfield 1, and James Sproull, Vienna 1.
Republican’s elected to committeeperson positions on Tuesday include Brian Russell, Maine 1 and Victor V. Ellias, Jr., Mazon 1.
