Punt, Pass & Kick finals part of Friday football at CCHS

Boys and girls ages 5-14 participated in a friendly competition that had them punting, passing and kicking a football.

A preliminary Punt, Pass & Kick competition was held in Carbon Hill Park on Sept. 3. The top two finishers will now compete for first and second place in the town finals set to take place between the junior varsity and varsity Coaler football games this Friday, Sept. 16 in Dzuris Stadium at Coal City High School.

Participants were divided into five age divisions—5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14.

There were nine kids in the 5-6 division. Set to compete for first and second place are Henry Gabehardt and Levi Hennessy. Mikey Tworek finished the contest in third place.

Seven kids competed in the 7-8 year division. Drake Figge and Austin Newman will compete for the top two spots. Danny Matsko earned a third place finish.

The largest age division in the competition was the 9-10 group with 16 participants.

Finalists Mitchell Jessen and Derek Maxwell will meet on the Coaler football field to compete for the top two spots, Ryan Carpenter finished in third.

Hayden Kennell and Maddox Meents will compete for first and second place in the 11-12 age division. They were among eight competitors at the preliminary contest where Tyler Pelletier finished in third place.

The 13-14 age division also had nine competitors and the champion will be determined on Friday in a contest between Emmett Easton and Cooper Morris. Theo Fritz finished in third place.
