Two local teams to play for volleyball regional championships
The volleyball seasons for Coal City and Wilmington continued Tuesday night with the Lady Coalers and Lady Wildcats both winning in the semi-final round of their own regionals.
At Coal City, the Lady Coalers advanced to the championship match on Thursday at 6 p.m. after beating Spring Valley in two quick sets, 25-16, 25-20. The Lady Coalers will now host Seneca, a 25-15, 25-19 winner over Sandwich, to decide the championship on Thursday. The winner of the Coal City Regional will play in the Bureau Valley-Manulis Sectional on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m.
At Wilmington, the Lady Wildcats made quick work of their semi-final opponent, beating Clifton Central 25-19, 25-7. They found out they will battle Peotone for the regional championship at 6 p.m. Thursday as the Blue Devils upended Herscher 26-24, 14-25, 25-23. Winner of the Wilmington Regional will enter the Manteno Sectional on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 6 p.m.
