Two teenagers charged with residential burglary are being held in the Grundy County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
Coal City Police report Ty C. Willis, 18, of Coal City and 19-year-old Victoria M. Ellis-Oram, of Wilmington, were arrested Wednesday evening for allegedly breaking into a home in the 200 block of Irving St. earlier in the day.
Willis and Ellis-Oram appeared before Judge Robert Marsaglia in Grundy County Circuit Court Thursday morning. Bond was set and each was appointed a public defender.
According to police, the homeowner returned to the residence around 4:30 p.m. to find the family dogs in the backyard and the sliding glass door shattered out. A short time later, the homeowner’s son arrived and indicated several items were missing from his bedroom.
After walking through the residence, the homeowner told the responding patrol officer Nicholas Mazzone the only room that had been gone through was the son’s bedroom, as nothing else appeared to be missing or disturbed.
The son was able to provide police with the names of possible suspects, two of them were individuals police had dealt with multiple times earlier in the day. In fact, at approximately 11:20 a.m., two officers had been in contact with Willis and Ellis-Oram.
Police received additional information that two individuals matching the description of Willis and Ellis-Oram were seen leaving the area where the crime occurred.
With this information, Sgt. Chris Harseim went to Willis’ residence where property matching the description of items stolen from the Irving Street home were located.
In talking with Harseim, police report Willis admitted that he and Ellis-Oram broke into the home.
Willis was taken into custody at his home and Ellis-Oram was arrested at a local business.
Among the items reported stolen from the home were a pair of Beats headphones, an empty safe, a pair of shoes, BB gun and a black and yellow Nike zipper bag.
