Unit 1 providing lunches to district students

The Unit 1 School District is providing breakfast and lunch to any district student who needs a nutritious meal.
Breakfast and lunch meals are served on a grab-and-go basis. When students pick up their lunch, they also receive breakfast items for the following day.
This service is available through the existing stay-at-home and school closure order. Superintendent Dr. Kent Bugg reports about 25 students are currently participating in the lunch offering.
Students in need of a meal should complete the daily request form available at http;/bit.ly/CC-Lunches or call 815-634-5032. There is no charge for the meals.
The district has partnered with Help for Hope to deliver lunches to designated pick-up locations within the district.
Meals are available for pickup at Carbon Hill Park between 11 and 11:20 a.m., Whistle Stop Restaurant in Diamond from 11:30 a.m. to noon and Hope for Help, 100 S. Biama St., Coal City between noon and 12:30 p.m. Additionally, lunches can be picked up at the Coal City High School events entry between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. daily.
“We are very appreciative of Gordon and Cathy Milne from Help for Hope, who are making the deliveries to the various central locations,” Bugg said.
