To celebrate the arrival of its new ambulance, the Coal City Fire Protection District kept with long standing tradition by wetting it down and pushing it into its designated spot in the apparatus bay.
It’s a ritual in the fire service to christen new apparatus with a wet-down ceremony, a practice that dates back to the 1800s when fire pumpers were pulled by horses.
